HG612 Hacked Modem

[link to this post]

Hi

I recently unlocked my HG612 modem using this firmware: Firmware and I haven't bothered changing it back to the original just incase in the future I wish to obtain the line stats again...would this be okay?

Have others just left the hacked firmware or gone back to using the original?

TIA.

leave it unlocked,
you can lock it again by selecting the 'bt' firewall settings

No, leave it, can't see any reason not to.

Slight hijack here, can bt still remote update the firmware with the "hacked" firmware?

Just thinking ahead as there seems to be a unknown factor as to wether the new vectoring will need a update/new modem

I live for the one, I die for the one.
Yep I really am THAT thick!

Smallworld Cable ..... 5 Meg then upped to 20 Meg Down

All the hack does is change the firewall setting. As long as no settings are changed which prevent BT from remote-connecting to the modem, then a FW update will be possible. This will probably change the firewall setting though.

You would need to disable BT agent I believe which you can find in the modem somewhere...
