Faster 300M Infinity FTTP & FTTPoD

[link to this post]

BT's Infinity FTTP will soon offer 300/20 for £50 per month, where available.

Interesting quote :

McDonald added that FTTP is a limited product. Only 100,000 UK premise can currently get it. When we asked about the wider availability of the FTTP On Demand programme, where customers can pay to upgrade the copper last mile of an FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) line, McDonald said:

“That’s only a business product right now. Right now we’re considering whether we’ll allow the upgrade [FTTP On Demand] programme to launch in the consumer market.”

Ok twitter comments make sense, this is JUST a BT Retail restriction and is sort of to be expected given 36 month contract and Ofcom rules limiting consumer to 24 month

aha. There's a difference between expecting little residential interest and saying you don't allow it though. With various localised Fibre to the Mansion schemes underway BT would appear to be ignoring a proven demand.

BT Retail might be, but I doubt other providers will.

Have asked some questions to confirm this is just a BT Retail stance, who have other odd things like if you have a business voice line, you cannot order residential broadband on it.

I assume one could just order the business product even at home address? eg. like ordering a business line at home address.
