Why does it take so long to login and get an IP on fiber?

Just wondering why it takes +5 minutes to login and get an IP assigned (Plusnet here) when ADSL took less than a minute after a resync.

I think it is the TR069 operating each time you connect from a router bootup. (Mine even seems to fail to complete, until after a few minutes I do a manual disconnect/connect). It worked OK with my Buffalo, but that died.

Support said I could go to Member Centre >> Connection Settings >> Automatic hardware setup, and disable it. The only problem is that it won't do that either for me - I expect it is whatever the failure to complete is about.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.4/16.8Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
