Free activation with Sky

[link to this post]

My wife has just ordered Sky fibre today, an upgrade from our Sky 20MB service. It would appear that Sky will waive the (currently £50) activation fee if you find someone nice to talk to in the call centre smile , they will also send out the new fibre gear f.o.c too.

Only problem is we do not have a personal speed estimate as my Wife didn't do any test before ordering, the operator just said "up to 20MB", a term I though had been discontinued now?

Any ideas how to get a estimate? Logging in to the Sky account only gives the option to upgrade and tells us what is available. Logging out and trying gives a "please log in" notice.

Visit https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html and use the postcode checker at the very bottom of the page

If you already have a phone line then pretty much all of the checkers essentially rely on the BT Wholesale Checker here

That will give an idea of expected speeds. Other alternative is to go to the sky site without logging in and using the "Broadband speed checker" on this page

Can't do it. As said previously, it recognises the line is already a Sky line and tells you to log in. Once logged it, that's it!!

Sorry, just re- read. Postcode checker.

Doesn't even show fibre available now, but Sky have accepted the order and their postcode checker has now shown an estimate of 40mb- 40mb.

You need to use the address checker, not just the post code checker.

I used the Sky one, which gave a result. Would rather have had a number checker though.
