FTTC

[link to this post]

Hi, I live in Church, (Accrington exchange which is FTTC enabled) I receive my service from cabinet 57. I have recently seen engineers putting what looked like fibre cables underground however I cannot seem to find out when my cabinet will be upgraded (or if it has already). Please help as to when I can expect to enjoy fibre optic BB or just let me know that Virgin is the only option for me as with BT i can only get a maximum of 6 meg with an exteremly poor upload rate. Postcode is BB5 4JF

Thanks in advance

Tried emailing the nga.enquiries@openreach.co.uk address? They're not always that helpful but might be worth a try. Also, be thankful you at least have Virgin Media as an option wink.

put your number in the ADSL checker and it'll give you a conservative estimate of the date, if one exists. It's currently not showing any availability so I would think months rather than weeks.

You should get 800k upload on ADSL ?

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.

Hopefully you'll get a better answer than I had for my cabinet.

BT Openreach:
Our deployment is based on the commercial criteria for each cabinet and your cabinet fails to meet the commercial criteria. This is because the cabinet has too few premise connected to it, rendering it too small to provide a return on the investment based on the costs for the construction and on-going running costs of providing a new FTTC cabinet.

I reckon the new cabinet maybe stood in 6-8 weeks time, and it all else goes well it may be completed 4-6 weeks after that.

I am having the same issue where I live, to rub salt in the wound it seems all the neighboring streets can get it frown

Will yours get upgraded via the BDUK scheme?
