Asus RT-AC66U On Sky

[link to this post]

Hi,

I am trying to get my router: Asus RT-AC66U to work on Sky Fibre. I've downloaded this software: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preS...

Do I also need to extract the username and password from the Sky Hub and put this into the Asus router?

Please could someone confirm,

Many thanks,

I don't know anyone that has done it with FTTC and that specific router, but a generic guide is below:

Easiest way to do this.

1) On the Asus, set up the wireless info you want. So the wireless settings, password etc.
2) Turn off DHCP on the Asus
3) Connect the Asus to the Sky Hub

Keep the Current BT openreach modem plugged in, Keep the Sky Hub plugged in. Attach the Asus to the Sky hub.

So it goes modem - sky hub - asus.

Should work fine. I'm assuming you're only using the Asus for better WiFi e.g. 5ghz etc. If it's for other features this setup might not be the best.

Hi,

I have Sky Fibre - using the ASUS RT-N66U hooked up directly to the Openreach modem.

I used the merlin firmware at www.lostrealm.ca - when I did it, there was no option to input the required Sky info, I contacted Eric at the above website and he customised the firmware for me! - We went back and forth a couple of times as there was not much by way of specification from Sky at the time, but got it working pretty easily. - I think Asus have since built the functionality into their firmware directly.

Yes, you have to extract the username and password from your Sky router, and I think at the time I had to clone the Router's mac address - but I don't think that's required any more.

I'm at work at the moment, I'll grab the settings I used when I get home.

Thanks

James

You can chat to 'rMerlin' here: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42

I use his firmware on my RT-N66U (although not with Sky)
