Can someone help me about fibre in my area?

[link to this post]

Hi,

This has been going on since last year. I was about to order fibre today and once again it has gone from being avaliable at my address to not being. It now gives me a date of the 27th Nov 2013. Previously it was the end of October. Each time it says for a few days I can get fibre then it says I cant.

This is the exchange and cabinet

BT28 3YZ on Exchange LISBURN is served by Cabinet 71

Thanks

Sorry I have posted this twice mods.

Definitely it was avaliable late last year. I contacted Sky about upgrading at the start of this year and they told me I couldnt and this was when I first discovered it.

Hi,

Sorry, you'll have to wait.

FTTC cabinets only have so many spare connections. Once they are used customers will no longer be able to order.

Openreach will then do one of the following (which can take time):

- Add additional cross connections and change the equipment to facilitate more connections per card (not sure if this is standard practice)
- Add additional cross connections and cards to the cabinet
- Add an additional cabinet

All of that takes times. Cabinets near me are hitting similar demand spikes. We have an area near me where one cab went live and was unavailable to order the next day!

Regards,

Gareth

Thanks for your help.

I wont miss it this time at the end of the month!

Its nice to see you will be getting a big boost in your speed soon.

Fibre will take me from 3mb to 12.8mb.

One more question.

Would it be possible to put my order in now or will I have to wait?

Hi

So I waited to the BT Wholesale checker said fibre was once again avaliable in my area. I placed an order with Plusnet which went through sucessfully.

I then checked the BT Wholesale checker today and now it doesnt even mention FTTC in my area. Prior to this it give a date and then it said avaliable and now it states this:

FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- Sorry your cabinet is temporarily unavailable, capacity will be restored as soon as possible.

Now I have been in contact with Plusnet and they have someone looking in to it.

I dont want to move to them if its only for ADSL as currently Sky are giving it to me half price.

My cabinet is

Exchange LISBURN is served by Cabinet 71

Thanks

The act of you placing the order may have took the last available port on the cabinet. So if PlusNet are saying the order went through and has confirmed it is progressing with Openreach via BT Wholesale then you may have been the lucky last person to get added until some more line cards are added.

Nah im not sure im that lucky. I was on the phone with them and he didnt sound too confident about my order.

He has referred it too the offline(?) support who will hopefully contact Openreach.
