Mix of both Huawei and ECI cabinets on same exchange?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

The other day when I was in town, I went past the telephone exchange I am connected to which is Selby MYSEL. I noticed that they have put two new PCP cabinets outside the exchange for people who are on EO lines. One new PCP cabinet has what looks like a Huawei 128 FTTC cabinet next to it http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/bt_furniture_4.html . while the other one doesn't have any FTTC cab next to it yet. Which I thought was odd as all the other FTTC cabs round town are ECI 128 http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/bt_furniture_5.html which is the same type of cabinet I am connected to. I Thought that BT Openreach don't mix both Huawei and ECI cabs together on the same exchange or I am missing something?

Also how does the EO line thing work as BT Openreach have put a PCP and a FTTC cab outside the other smaller exchanges around the area but these are all ECI 128's to. Do they cut every EO telephone lines are rewire them inside the new PCP cab or do BT Openreach wait until someone orders FTTC and put that line inside the PCP cab with the FTTC cab cable?

Thanks

have noticed it once where one cabinet was different to the rest in the same exchange area, probably going to a different headend exchange.
with EO's, Openreach basically cut the cable and wire it via a new PCP, then install an FTTC cabinet in the usual way

Yes I agree it'll be because the Huawei cabinet is connected to a different headend.

The headend equipment in the building is either ECI or Huawei and as far as I know the headend equipment only works with cabinets of the same manufacturer.

Therefore the only explanation in your scenario is what I've suggested.
