Any Hope?

[link to this post]

Apparently BDUK funding will eventually bring fibre to my exchange sometime in 2015 but I have just discovered from talking to a broadband engineer that my cabinet is 4.2 km away and that what I thought was my cabinet is some sort of "sub cabinet" that my connection goes to first and then onto the true cabinet. Any chance of ever getting FTTC or am I stuck with my poor aluminium laden ADSL 2+?

There's a chance but only a very slim chance. They would need to make the sub cabinet ( SCP) a main PCP and re-route all the lines currently going to SCP directly so they don't go via the current PCP, then provide FTTC as usual. This kind of network re-arrangement dosnt come cheap , so may not happen under the current BDUK funding, if ever.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that confirms what I thought, which is quite depressing.
