Toothill Cabinet 29 FTTP/FTTC

[link to this post]

I am sure that it has nothing to do with me whatsoever, but i have sent quite a few emails off to openreach over the past few years or at least since the fttc rollout started, and today i have finally got some good news. I am assuming that it is due to my estate being surrounded by Virgin Media's network and us only being able to get slow broadband.

Now i just need to hope that my home does get the FTTP as standard. Also, where can i look to see the monthly prices for a FTTP connection.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your further correspondence about Toothill cabinet 29. This cabinets deployment has been reassessed and it is to be upgraded as an FTTP cabinet area. This is good news in that, as long as your premise is within the scope of the plans, (these are not available as the cabinet was only put in the program to be upgraded last week), you will get exceedingly fast speeds, currently 330Mb. However, the bad news is that FTTP networks take a long time to plan and deploy so we arenít expecting it to go live until June 2015.

Just asking another question.
I currently do not have a landline provided by a copper pair.

To get a FTTP connection, do BT still make you use a landline via a copper pair? It seems nuts if they do.

At the Openreach level, they make it possible to do either.

If you go for fibre broadband and "fibre voice access", the price ends up slightly higher than fibre broadband and copper voice access (ie WLR), by about £10 (£213 vs £223 per year). That is the wholesale rental price to an ISP.

The question is whether any ISP would let you order it...

Well today i have seen a gang of contractors putting in the fibre tubes that will feed into a new estate at ridgeway farm. I asked the guys what they were doing, they said it was for fibre. I also asked for which company, they said BT. They definitely were not openreach engineers. I asked it if would also go to my estate that feeds cabinet 29, they said they usually feed off to different areas as well as new build....It may be looking good for the estate in peatmoor in the coming months.

Just a quick update for the residents of peatmoor, swindon. I've had a reply from openreach advising that there is 3 projects ongoing for peatmoor and we should have fttp by summer 2017. In addition if you do a postcode lookup on the codelook website, this also reflects this.

But until its in, we still do not have it.

No idea if this will be g.fast or full fibre, i guess i will have to wait and see.
I'm kinda glad we did not get fttc now.
