BT Speed Checker - Further diagnostics not working

[link to this post]

Hello,

Whenever I try the further diagnostics on the BT wholesale speed checker I get:

"Your speed test has completed and the results are shown above, however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service. As a result we are unable to determine if the speed you received during the test is acceptable for your service. Please re-run the test if you require this additional information."

Why would that be?

Thanks
Sam

Usually because you are on a Full LLU service, Sky/TT/C & W based. The Further Diagnostics give data such as the BT Wholesale IP Profile, which no LLU broadband has, and on full LLU the line number details aren't accessible.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Were you with them for both before you got FTTC?

I also tend to get the same issue, it works prob 1 in every 3 for me.

No idea why, just assumed it was the magic of BT again.

Does that hold even for 'LLU' Fibre? Doesn't even that have an IPP?

Not that this is relevant to OP.

Sky and TalkTalk do not have an IP profile, no smile. It comes from the BT Wholesale system, setting the BTW BRAS and MSAN smile.

My theory is that the BT Wholesale DLM is still used, but just accepts the sync speed notified by the Openreach one.

I'm sure you remember that until recently the BT Wholesale tester would not accept LLU phone numbers at all. Now it runs a speed test just like any other site, but the Further Diagnostics were introduced at the time that was.

If you notice, the Further Diagnostics don't actually do anything. They take the phone number just like the older version did, then feed the results just obtained back to the servers exactly as the old one did at completion. They've simply moved the phone number input to after the speed test.

What is happening with the OP and the other poster seeing intermittent working of FD I have no idea.
