New cabinet but no plans for exchange

[link to this post]

Hi all

As I type, a nice new fibre cab is being installed in our village (Hartwell NN7).
We are on the ROADE exchange but as of yet, it appears there are no plans to upgrade the exchange.

I'm guessing that as the cab is being done, there are plans in place somewhere?

Any help appreciated

Thanks. I had already seen that. Here's what it states,

"Planning and survey work underway or happening soon. Superfast broadband services expected in parts of this area from 2014"

As the cab is being installed I figured that the "planning and survey work" had been carried out and was just wondering if there was any further update on it.

Maybe your fibre is going to be provided from a different exchange. Mine supposedly is. Telephone and ADSL comes from Brackley, FTTC apparently comes from Banbury.

The fibre can run for 30km if they want it to and still give the same speeds. The bit that governs your speed is the amount of copper phone line between your house and the fibre cabinet you end up connected to.

Some projects do not release clear data until its almost the go live date, i.e. no answer is sometimes easier to handle than constant questions about why a date has changed.

For 3/4 of exchanges the fibre cabinets are connected to a different exchange. So the chances are your fibre cabinets won't be connected to your local exchange unless it is a large exchange (serves a lot of people).

Looks like a repair joint (the openreach copper people will say for sure) don't recognise it as part of the range of FTTP/FTTC hardware they stick in the ground examples of that at:
