New FTTC installation - is my line reaching its potential?

[link to this post]

Hi All, a new fibre connection activated on Friday with TT. I was long way from the exchange so only had 1400-1600kbs sync with ADSL on TT. My fibre connection is much much faster (and very welcome!) but would appreciate opinions on whether it is "optimal".

My phone line is underground and my best case scenario is that I am 1km from the cabinet assuming it follows a logical shortest route, but I can't be sure. It was a self install, however I did buy and fit a MK3 BT faceplate, there is no extra internal wiring - the TT router goes straight there.

Upstream line rate (kbit/s):
1999
Downstream line rate (kbit/s):
28864
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB):
10.7
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB):
6.3
Upstream interleave depth:
0
Downstream interleave depth:
0
Line standard:
VDSL
Upstream line attenuation (dB):
64.9
Downstream line attenuation (dB):
24
Upstream output power (dBm):
6.7
Downstream output power (dBm):
11.6
Downstream interleave depth:
None

I guess my lines potential is determined by the downstream line attenuation? Is my connection the best I can expect?

I am probably one of the first on the cabinet as well, so I am expecting this will probably drop as new connections go on?

Many thanks!

Yeap fits the pattern I would expect for the attenuation.

Remember upload is capped at 2 Mbps with basic TT Fibre service.

Thanks for taking a look, and yes I am on the 40/2 TT package but still very happy with the upload rate (faster my ADSL download before!).

Hi,

You are right. Fibre speeds will drop as more and more people will join.

The longer away from the cab, the slower the speed.

I know a friend who live 2km away from cab. He had 1mbps download on ADSL and now he has 7mbps on Fibre
