Fibre Upgrade ?

[link to this post]

Now I'm really baffled. I have shown a desire to move broadband suppliers and have had a few quotes some of which are better value and unlimited. Here, s the confusing bit Adsl= 6mbps down and 0.75-1.00 up.....Fttc 3mbp's down and 0.3-0.5 up. Is it me or are they daft. Why would anyone pay more for a lesser service. The test has been done on BT , plus net, and bt wholesale .

FTTC speed depends on your line length from the cabinet. ADSL speed depends on your line length from the exchange.

Yes m8 . The cabinet is less than half the distance.

Unfortunately the distances are not comparable in terms of the technology.

Adsl has a lower maximum speed but goes further

Vdsl has a higher top speed but shorter range

Just means original poster is one of a low percentage where adsl performs better
