Openreach & BDUK RFC dates drmatically differ for my cabinet

[link to this post]

Hi Fora

The Openreach & BDUK RFC dates drmatically differ for my cabinet!!!!

BT Openreach say a RFS date of 31 December 2014
BDUK (Better broadband for Oxfordshire) Say a RFS date of July 2015

Who to believe???!!!

The cabinets are in and our village has been swarming with BT cable trucks blowing fibre cables for the last week or so so the cabinets and fibre is in situ..

I know who I would prefer to believe!!!

Neither, both are estimates and dependent on things like the weather particularly in the winter months, i.e. a storm in an area may mean priority has to be given to fault repairs delaying things.

Appreciate that, but who is giving the estimates? do BDUK go to Openreach and ask for a date? I would have expected them to be relatively close if they share the same data - but 6 months apart??!

BDUK are probably being a little more risk averse - better to tell someone it will be delivered in 8 months and do it in 4 than give an estimate of 2 months and deliver in 4.

Also depends on how often Better broadband for Oxfordshire update their site, Mine and other exchanges around here (South West) were completed 3 months before the BDUK site for this area had it down to be done and they didn't update it until 2months after fibre was live.
