Beamish Exchange (NEBEA) Exchange Only Lines - BDUK

[link to this post]

For anyone interested now or in the future, Openreach have installed and commissioned a new PCP & DSLAM for some EO lines on the Beamish Exchange (NEBEA) as part of Digital Durham's BDUK project, it's been numbered up as Cabinet 11 and I think it serves mostly lines that were listed on Exchange 3.

Serving mainly High Handenhold, High Urpeth and Outlying Dwellings though it is possible that some of Beamish itself is covered too.

Timings were roughly:
PCP Cabinet erected around 26th August 2014
DSLAM Cabinet erected, power, ducting & cross connections installed 11th - 15th September 2014
Cabinet Number 11 lettering applied sometime in October
Exchange lines shifted 11-12th November 2014
Openreach Where & When Checker updated 20th November

I had confirmation from Digital Durham today (21st November) that Openreach have completed the installation and barring any last minute hitches Ordering should go live in the next 3 weeks.

Hope this info proves useful to others.

Meanwhile I shall be cmd+r'ing on dslchecker.bt.com awaiting the magic to happen.

Just to update the thread, as of today PCP11 is still not appearing on any of the checkers, none of the houses adjacent or close to the dslam appear to be able to order fttc yet.

Openreach Where & When says Accepting Orders and Digital Durham say (checked via their Openreach contact) that the DSLAM is live and awaiting connections.

Seems someone somewhere has neglected to update a database.

Extremely frustrating.

Have taken a gander and something does not make sense, so have sent it onwards for someone to take a look.

Thanks Andrew, it seems something is happening as the Openreach Where & When checker has changed to ? status for the affected post codes / phone numbers.

Hopefully the databases are being updated and we'll be able to order soon.

I did try to edit my last post but it the editing time had expired, however - the DSL Checker has changed and now shows we are connected to Cabinet 11 - surely only a matter of time until everything catches up and we can finally order Infinity.

*Update* It's live and orders can be placed.

Got my appointment booked for the morning of the 26th. Speed estimate doubles the current 14Mb down and hopefully works wonders on the abysmal 444Kbps upload we get.

Thanks Andrew.

When live we should just squeak in on the 24Mbps but upload should go from a pathetic 444.9Kbps to around 5Mbps.

Not Superfast by any means but it's a start. Oh and they are sending an Engineer to do the install as well - thought Infinity 1 was self-install these days?

Slightly faster than me, but do run two FTTC lines at home.

It is the upload that is most useful in terms of work.
