Was due a phone and FTTC (80/20) from TalkTalk today and the engineer was booked for a 9am-1pm slot. Early in the morning an engineer was seen up the telegraph pole opposite the house, but no engineer called.
On chasing with TalkTalk we have been told that there are "massive" problems with the exchange and new equipment and software need installing. We were further told an upgrade is due to take place in the next 48 hours, when another engineer will be booked after the fixes/upgrade are complete.
The excuse seems a little over exaggerated to me. If the problems are that massive wouldn't they [Openreach] have known about them before today and scheduled the engineer for after the upgrades.
Just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of what the issues might really be? Or perhaps this is just an excuse for Openreach failing to show up?
