Cabinet 18 Batley Exchange

[link to this post]

I've recently moved in to Birstall; and I'm connected to this cabinet (it's near the end of my road) - broadband speeds are pitiful (when we looked at buying here; the BT checker at the time indicated FTTC was available) - does anyone know when (or even if) it's going to be upgraded ?

Many thanks,

Steve

Ok .. thanks.

An idea what other options I have ? 2.5Mb is simply ridiculously low (I was getting ~ 16Mb at the previous address) - I can't even use my amazon / netflix subscriptions !

Frustrating. frown

Can you post the stats from your modem here? We need things such as SNR and Attenuation and errors would be good too.

I know the cab is at the end of my road - but the exchange it a good way beyond that; so I think it's purely down to line length.

Here's my current stats though - just in case I'm missing something !

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2880 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 53.0 db 31.0 db
Noise Margin 9.1 db 23.0 db

Those stats put you about 3.8km from the exchange - is that correct? If so, the speed's a little low but that's about all you can expect unfortunately frown

Sounds about right unfortunately - SamKnows puts me about 2.8km from the exchange as the crow flies; so I'd imagine 3.8km is in the right ballpark.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not holding my breath ! We're in Kirklees - which has decided to pull out of "Superfast Yorkshire" in favour of it's own high speed network; which seems to be targeting business users first and domestic users as a 'some point in the future' concern frown

Ho hum.
