FTTC cabinet deployment - types and card fill - Update

A year ago, I created this thread detailing the makeup of FTTC cabinets in BT's network. At the time, the data related to cabinet composition in April 2013.

As Openreach have made a repeat application for unmetered power supplies (approved this time), there has been a second opportunity to get a glimpse of a more recent sample of the cabinet deployments - around September 2014.

Although we only get a sample of cabinets (nearly 35,000 out of the January 2015 total of 61,000+), we get a more detailed snapshot of the likely number of ports in use, and not just a count of the cards in each cabinet.

I've taken the cabinet counts, and converted them into a handy table:

Result: Out of 35,000 cabinets, around 270 have a full complement of cards. However, only 65 of these are down to 15 available ports or less.

ECI seem to have been big winners - their proportion is up significantly.

Incidentally, the power usage appears to average out around:

100W base load, plus 1.5W per active port.
