My download speed?

[link to this post]

Hi all.

I have recently upgraded to BT Fibre Optic Inifinity service.

Here are the speeds I am getting;

73Mbps Download Speed
17Mbps Upload Speed
28 Ms Ping

I am downloading a 700MB peice of software on Flashget and it is taking around 40 mins, and the speed says 300Kb/s

Can anyone tell me if that is correct / slow?

It is a wired connection.

Thanks so much. Adam

Almost certainly congestion on the server you are downloading from. You can get a good idea of what speed you should be able to download at by clicking here.

This is Thinkbroadband's own file download speedtest. That's the link to the 1GB file and should take a little over 2 mins on your connection.

How long ago did you get upgraded to fibre? Have you tried a speedtest such as this one here. What result do you get?

Personally more use running http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html particularly as we know where it will serve the data from

If your ISP hosts an ookla box then it will often pick that server.

Okay that is showing full speed and if single file is around half that, then suggests you may need to tweak the RWIN settings on your PC network card.
