Moving from TalkTalk to who?

[link to this post]

As TalkTalk has been hacked we won't be staying with them as we've already noticed suspicious behaviour in the last few days.

We have FTTC and so we would want to continue that. Which ISP should we move to? We'd need unlimited usage and unlimited anytime calls.

Good support is also highly regarded.

And you stayed with TalkTalk? Hell if you think TT support is good then any ISP will do.

TalkTalk support is dreadful, hence why I value it highly in the new ISP...

So your moving because of poor support and nothing to with the hack....

If you wanted to move because of the hack then you would be asking which bank to move to, or maybe ways to protect yourself from Fraud...

Because moving provider sure isn't going to help you now!

I'm with BT and so far they have been good.

I always think its better to go to the horses mouth with ISP stuff. Most other ISP's have to interact with BT/Openreach, so its better to go with them, IMO.

They have as good a support as any. These days no one company really stands out.

Demon => Freeserve => Pipex => Be => Sky => BT Infinity 2

I moved to BT fibre.
The system works well but if you expect their support to better than TT you would be wrong.
I found the TT support via their forum was good even if it took a day or two get an answer.
BT forum is poor unless you can convince one of the regulars to pass you on to a "moderator" who actually works for BT.
The phone support is a joke!

I've been with BT for the last six years. Before that, NTL/Virgin, and before that BT dialup with Demon. Both were reliable and had few problems. BT's technical call centre is in India and they are a pain to deal with if you do have a problem (I did have a wifi issue with my HH3 and they insisted on doing line tests etc despite the fact that I told them my ethernet connection to the HH3 was working normally, it was the wifi that had just broke). But they did sort it out and am now on FTTC with them.

BT Broadband still has to interact with BT Wholesale/Openreach at the same level as other providers, the level of moans and groans suggests that there is no perfection obtained by doing direct to BT Group retailer.

It's not a question really of support, the OP is concerned about the hacking. Whether BT have better security than TalkTalk I don't know. Support is secondary to security, at least IMHO.

But could the security be worse?
