Fibre transfer

[link to this post]

I made a request last week to migrate my fibre from talktalk to pulse8 assuming that the receiving isp did most of the work.

I've now been told that because of the type of fibre I have that isn't possible and I will have to request talktalk to downgrade my fibre to adsl and then request the switch. For which I pay a £75 migration.

Is the wool being pulled here? I live in an area of Manchester that has had fibre for years using standard talktalk - that I'm aware of.

I could take my request to another isp but would I get the same answer?

Thanks for any input

This is rediculous as Pulse8 resell TalkTalk broadband. I think you should consider another ISP who know what they're doing.

I wonder what they mean by "type of fibre"..

That was a problem not long ago within the TalkTalk Business ordering system when migrating in from a BT Wholesale connection, but I thought it had been fixed. Perhaps it hasn't been fixed for TalkTalk retail to TTB.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

So if I move to an isp using TTB I'll have this issue but if I pick a different isp I should be fine.

Out of interest, whose 'fault' is this. Regulator or isp (talktalk or other)

I moved direct from TalkTalk residential fibre to Talktalk Business fibre (direct) last year without any issues. I suspect pulse8 are telling you porkies...
