FTTC stats question

[link to this post]

I'm hoping that one of the regular expert visitors the forum would kindly look at my stats and give me an opinion if the speed is what you'd expect. Figures below are from an unlocked HG612 connected to a Huawei cabinet on an 80/20 service.

Many thanks smile

Looks ok. I've noticed an attenuation of 16 is the cutoff point for 80/20 to 40/10, just a rule of thumb there are exceptions.

No G.INP yet so you have interleaving and 'old' INP. If you leave it, it should improve hopefully with the addition of G.INP within 2 weeks.

If you can monitor 24*7 it is easier to use DSLStats and sign up to MyDSLWebStats and then you will get the Traffic Lights to give an instant analysis of your line

Thanks BatBoy - that's helpful.

My neighbour has sent me figures from his HH5a showing max data rates of 13845/53335 and sync rates of 9999/39952 with SNR 9.7/10.2 and attenuation of 26.5/21.1. Both lines are fed from the same cabinet and given that the houses are terraced (and for information, new), his approx line is probably 10m longer than mine. I was therefore expecting similar speeds.

Mikey

We can clearly see that your neighbour is on a 40/10 package.

Do you have any extra sockets around the house?

If so try connecting at the test socket in the master socket to isolate them, if you are indeed only 10m difference then you should be getting slightly better speeds on a 80/20 package, closer to 48/11.

This will also remove one source of dodgy connection in the faceplate inself.

Thanks kitcat. Internal wiring has been checked and confirmed fault free. The HG612 is connected to the master socket and I've also tried using the test socket. Openreach engineers state that they get the same sync speed at the grey external NTE (which incidentally has been bypassed to rule out the capacitor/surge arrester/resistor in it).

If G.INP makes no difference if/when the DLM uses it (I assume you have the latest firmware) and there is nothing wrong with your wiring, you would be better off on the BT Infinity 1 40/10 package

Thanks gt94sss2. I'll keep an eye on the stats over the next couple of weeks and hope that G.INP is enabled and will then go back to my ISP and 'discuss further' if required smile

Firmware is the latest unlocked version I believe:

Software version V100R001C01B030SP08
Firmware version A2pv6C038m.d24j

I'm on the 80/20 package (but being billed for 40/10) due to over estimation by Openreach/BTW when the cabinet was enabled.

Correct.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

I'm still sitting tight and waiting for a G.INP miracle. No G.INP as hoped for after a couple of weeks and I'm guessing there's no way I can force it other than to force re-sync by means of a reboot of the modem.
