FTTC enabled cabinet, but can't get fibre. .

[link to this post]

Hi guys, this is my first post to the forum so please be gentle.

I currently have BT broadband with download speeds of roughly 6mbps and upload of 0.5mbps. My cabinet is FTTC enabled and my 2 next door neighbours either side of my house both have fibre and are getting in excess of 20mbps.
So my question is, why do BT say I will not get speeds greater than 2mbps. Surly if my cabinet is enabled I should be able to get it?

Regards, Chris.

When you do the checks on the full address or phone number for yourself and the neighbours are you on the same cabinet?

No, they are all on separate numbered cabinates but all on the same location on the map, part of the red mealor green.

Three different cabinets in the same location is very rare, so which exchange and cabinets are involved?

Your fibre service is connected from this exchange.

Exchange name: Redbrook Maelor
Exchange status: Fibre enabled

Cabinet number: 10

Technology: FTTC

Cabinets 10 (mine) 2, 8.

Which map is showing them in the same place?

I believe they are spread over an area around 2km wide.

http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

They all look in the same place on there but I suppose it could be over a 2k distance.
There is no difference in the details though apart from the cabinet number, they all say FTTC. I don't understand why it's not available to me.

The superfast open reach website is showing the location of the exchange rather than the individual cabinets

The answer is out likely this that you are you unlucky to have a phone line that is going to a cabinet that is a long way from you, whereas for the neighbours they are luckier.

If you want to private message your postcode then can look into things and confirm things
