HG612 stats analysis

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Having had FTTC for over 6 years now with various different ISPs (BT, Plusnet, Aquiss amongst others) I have noticed a deterioration of my download speed which once used to be around 72Mbps but with my last ISP (BT) it was around 62Mbps and today I have just switched to Origin broadband (Vodafone) and it is 55Mbps or there abouts.
I suspect over the years that the number of people connected to my local cab has increased somewhat and crosstalk could explain there being a drop. As my speed has dropped from 62Mbps to 55Mbps overnight since my switch from BT to Origin I thought I would unlock my HG612 modem to extract the stats.

Based on the stats below can anyone help explain the reason for the drop in the download speed overnight? (I was under the impression that the 10 day training period was a myth!). Also does anyone know realistically what the max my line should be able to achieve?

Thanks

Looks like you're suffering from G.INP being removed.

Use the Ginp Formula to determine if your vdsl2 connection is with or without G.INP.
Divide your IP Profile by your Sync Speed and the answer is 0.9669 (with) or 0.9679 (without)

When talking about line issues, it is always better to talk about what kind of speed you are referring to. 72, 62 and 55 what? Sync speed? Or throughput?

If talking about line stats, it is almost always best to refer to sync speeds. Right now you are at 60.6Mbps.

When changing ISP, there is always a chance of a DLM reset happening. You currently have no error correction process running, so it is plausible that, overnight, retransmission was turned off. If so, it might turn back on in a couple of days.

Activation of G.INP can come with a small amount of speed improvement.

Apologies - the speeds indicated are throughput. Having only just unlocked my modem I can't provide any previous sync speed values.

It is probably best as you say to wait a few more days and see if G.INP activates.

When you unlocked it you did use the B030 firmware that supports G.INP?

Yes I used B030SP08 which supports G.INP.

My Sync speed looks to be slightly higher at 61.6Mbps - can anyone tell me if G.INP is still deactivated?

In the above data there is only a reference to "Bearer: 0" --

Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19221 Kbps, Downstream rate = 61645 Kbps

Hence we can deduce by the absence of "Bearer: 1" that G.Inp is not active on your circuit.

Thanks for that - looks like I will be waiting a little longer for it to be re-activated.

I wonder if you're connected to an ECI cabinet or a Huawei?
