fibre to telegraph post

[link to this post]

I have a telegraph pole outside my house with 17 phone lines running to it, could they run the fibre to that and give everyone on it much better speeds?

Yes. It's been done in Cornwall already.

Slides 10-19, possibly some later but I haven't checked. These overlap page boundaries on the left-hand menu so I prefer to use the Previous/Next above the picture window. Make sure you scroll up enough to see the picture description below it.

Well yes! But it's been done in a hell of a lot more places than Cornwall as well!

Openreach often use fibre from the pole for leased lines, mobile phone masts, all sorts.

Depends if ifs either covered as part of a BDif the UK programme and there you are looking for max number of premise

if you are looking at just the 17 your could co fund it via community fibre partnership but the issue might be how expensive is it to get the pole and how is the area served , Overhead, Ducted or Buried cable as that cold have a massive implication (variance in Hundreds or Thousands or Pounds per premise on the Gap required by the community

Yeah and a very large part of the KCOM Hull rollout is via existing poles.
