Line Speed increase

[link to this post]

My sky fibre has the past couple of weeks gone from a connection of around 31000 kbps down to 40000 kdps down, i'm only on the standard fibre up to 36 Mb and not the max up to 76 Mb but am wondering if i would gain anything out of upgrading, line stats are,

Connection Speed 40000kbps
Line Attenuation 26.1dB
Noise Margin 9.0dB

Connection Speed 8514kbps
Line Attenuation 0.0dB
Noise Margin 6.6dB

Thanks in advance

You might gain and extra 2 Mbps or maybe a little more on downsteam. You certainly will not get a connection above 45Mbps. Does you modem/hub give a max attainable figure? There will be no change on upstream.

What has caused the increase? Some minor BT works? A noise source disappearing? a neighbour turning their service off? a downgrade from VDSL to ADSL? ... You may never know

For such a small increase, I would not bother with an upgrade and the extra costs. And there is always a chance that the reason for te increase is reversed and you would then be stuck
