How long from cabinet build to available?

[link to this post]

After years/months of waiting, a fibre cabinet has finally appeared, a few metres from my PCP.

Cabinet 16, from exchange ESLOA
(http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=465410&cabinets=14221)

A search on the same question reveals a wide variation in time remaining, from a few weeks to over a year. Seems to depend on a lot of local factors. Or is the process more streamlined now, so I can expect the lower end of that range?!

Timescales are highly variable. Don't even hazard a guess until at least the cabinet is in place

As well as cabinet, the copper pairs need linking, the fibre running to it, and power.

So many variables hence the variations you see and no eta that I know of

Just realised the new cabinet is an AIO model.
Does that alter timescales at all?

Not really, where you gain from work not needing to link copper lines between fibre cab and old PCP you lose because if this is a new cabinet for EO lines that the patching in is done without interrupting service, and the skillset is a limited one, so how busy the people who do that work are can be a limiting factor sometimes.

And if it involves live to live migrations then it can take longer still

Where some people already have VDSL2 from an existing cabinet, and an infill cabinet is being added closer.

Live to Live is the process where people with VDSL2 are moved from one cabinet to another, it takes a long time as agreement is needed from all providers involved to migrate people across, i.e. a case of getting the timing right and for providers to know in case there is any product implications e.g. by making people faster backhaul requirements can change etc etc

Our village has just had a "Live to Live". The new cabinet was allegedly ready for service in January but the first existing customer wasn't transferred until the very end of March.

Still it was worth the wait going from a sync of 11788 to 79380!
