Smart Hub on Business Infinity

[link to this post]

Can't seem to get any certain answers regarding this....

I have infinity premium and a business hub 5. I have 5x static IP addresses.

I can get a smart hub cheap, and wondered if it will work on my business line, and if there is any specific "business" version of the smart hub

Thanks!

I believe there is.
The hardware may be the same, but I think the firmware differs.

The BH has the facility to enter login credentials and offers some things not available in the residential version, such as handling multiple IP addresses.

Ah OK thanks.

I've been scouring eBay and have also seen a few Billion 8800NL's that appear to be recommended for use with infinity

I've always found the BT Business hubs to be somewhat lacking in business features. If you really do need business features (things like fine control over routing, WAN failover, multiple WANS, powerful firewall, VPN access etc) I'd consider a different router.

One difference concerning certainly the Business Hub 5 and the Home Hub 5 is the business version allows you to receive incoming pings - handy if you want to use this site's broadband quality monitor!

Yeah indeed .... I use the business broadband at home and run a few servers (and home devices like xbox etc) and am finding things a bit limiting.

I managed to snag a refurbished Billion 8800nl V1 on eBay, so looking forward to moving over to that.

They've just announced the Business SmartHub but if it's as bad as the consumer version you're probably best to keep with your Billion router:
