I too have had a jump in sync speed in the past week or so.

A couple of weeks ago I went on holiday for a week and turned off the router - I had several hundred hours of solid sync at 63Mbps.

Since returning just over a week ago and turning on the modem I've had about 4 retrains initiated by the remote end - presumably DLM. The first slightly improved sync speed but also enabled G.INP on my upstream (previously only downstream), and the others just increased sync speed and I'm now up to 73Mbps

Vectoring state is 5 (unconfigured) still - so it's not that.

I'm guessing as mentioned it's down to a few people on holiday and reduced crosstalk - will see what happens in a few weeks or the end of the school holiday - but guessing I'l loose the 10Mbps again.

Last year I was still in a contract for 40Mbps having just moved so didn't see any change of course, but prior to that at the last house (longer line about 37Mbps) I never noticed any seasonal change!

In reply to a post by Chrysalis:
yep and someone has beat me here to the command so lets see what max reports.

ECI people gonna go mental if hauwei now also got vectoring.
I just did the vectoring check, using bt that given and also xdslctl info --vectoring

Both gave:
Vectoring state: 5
VCE MAC Address: 0:0:0:0:0:0
Total error samples Ethernet pkts sent: 0
Total error samples Ethernet pkts discarded: 0
Total error samples statuses sent: 0
Total error samples statuses discarded: 0

I assume the packet counts mean it isn't enabled.
Ah - just checked on kitz, towards the bottom of this post. It lists the codes.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 71288/12440Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

Bah humbug that is nice. I have asked Openreach on twitter if it is being rolled out but they are going to get back to me.

It's not. It's only on some BDUK funded Huawei cabinets. They use part of the funding on the vectoring equipment to bring properties above the (usually) 24mb target. It's only viable in certain areas, usually where a number of properties are a good distance from the cabinet.

It's not the 1st time we've seen vectoring on a cabinet and it won't be the last. A few years ago there was lots of talk about OpenReach rolling out vectoring on a large scale. That ship has sailed now though.
It's also not something that can practically be rolled out to ECI cabinets either. It would just make the difference between the 2 cabinet vendors even greater.

Thanks, John, I am on a Digital Durham Cabinet which is Huawei but I am getting 71 down after a cable replacement. Wonder if I will see it?

Not if most are getting your speeds. If crosstalk drops a large number of users below Digital Durhams target then vectoring may be considered. Sometimes it's installed when the cabinet is 1st provisioned, and sometimes quite a bit later. There's no real info on when it is/isn't deployed. We've just noticed the pattern that it's only ever BDUK funded projects that have vectoring, and statements from individual organisations (like Digital Durham) explaining why they've deployed vectoring (to meet properties passed targets).

I can only see 1 TBB speed test on my estate connected to Sky getting 25 down but only done 1 test. I am pretty sure there are others connected to the cabinet but just maybe not testing on TBB.
