Even more DLM trouble?

[link to this post]

My BT FTTC line seems to be getting slower and slower and I'm not sure why. I had a trusty HG612 which suddenly started hanging a few months ago, this caused DLM to intervene and band my line at 60000kbps. Prior to that, the line was rock solid at 63000kbps. I've been using a TP Link WD9970 since and as you can see, DLM has intervened again.

Pretty limited on stats with this modem, G.INP should be enabled as it was on the HG612.

I'm moving over to TalkTalk Fibre in a week, is this likely to cause things to be even slower?

Can I get more detailed stats from the WD9970?

DSL
Line Status:Connected
DSL Modulation Type:VDSL2

Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (Kbps) 20000 55000
Max Rate (Kbps) 25022 62265
SNR Margin (dB) 8.9 7.8
Line Attenuation (dB) 19.8 9.2

Not without uploading a hacked config file.

What speed have you gone for with TalkTalk?

Decrease youíre seeing is gradual I suppose, could be crosstalk. Mine has gone from 69 to about 57Mb. Iíve got new cabling right back to the cabinet, I know, Iíve checked it. Itís 5 years old. So thereís no other explanation for me.

I've gone with 76/20. I need the upload speed and it was far cheaper than what BT could do as a contract renewal, although BT have been brilliant the past 4 years.

I've ordered a HG612 off eBay so we'll see if that can bring me back up to 60+. I'm on an Huawei cab and before the old one started locking up, the connection was rock solid so hoping for the same.

The line does suffer from cross talk quite badly. The cab is in pretty much a BT only area, very little Virgin Cable and all the copper lines are 5km+ so FTTC take up is high. I'm only 200m from the cab, used to sync at 79999kbps but it gradually got slower. If the area has a power cut, it reconnects at 79999kbps, well it did before DLM started throwing its weight about.

I get better sync speeds with a ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A than the HG612 and they are getting a bit long in the tooth now. You can pick one up on eBay. The trouble with the HG612 is the capacitors age and with them not making any new ones it maybe only a few months before it starts rebooting.

Think that's what has happened to my old HG612.

Do you get comprehensive line stats from the Zyxel?

Yes, no need to unlock it either unless it's an ISP one then a factory reset with a pin on the back is required.
