I've had a similar ~60 to ~75 speed increase and my current downstream SNR is 3.3db.

When first installed (my line was the first one on the cabinet) the sync speed was over 100Mb (unfortunately I did not take screenshot) and over time as more people got FTTC my speed dropped to ~60 which I assume was mostly due to crosstalk. It's nice to be back to nearly 80Mb

You cannot have a sync speed of over 100 Mb on VDSL2 connections in the UK...

Not sure that's right. According to Table 6-1 - VDSL2 profiles in G.993.2, 100 Mbit/s is the "Minimum bidirectional net data rate capability" rather than the maximum. There was also a comment in this message on Kitz that calculated the theoretical maximum of the 17a profile as 246 Mbit/s:

"The 17MHz VDSL2 profile (17a) uses 4095 tones, with an effective symbol rate of 4kHz. This gives the following total system capacity: 4000 DMT symbols/s * 4095 tones/symbol * 15 bits/tone = 246Mbps to be shared between the two directions."

Yes, I fully well know that it's POSSIBLE to achieve those speeds, but all Openreach products are capped at 80/20!

It should be enabled on all Huawei 384HD cabs simply to aid with crosstalk.

All Openreach VDSL2 products are capped at 80000 Kbps downstream.

Others are at liberty to run at different caps, e.g. Digital Region used to see the odd 100 Mbps user

As others have said, that is not possible as the Openreach product is "hard"-capped at 80Mbps.

This is a common misreading people make of the line statistics. You will have been looking at the "Max attainable" or similarly titled line, which is the speed it could sync at if Openreach allowed such a sync.

Right so can anyone explain how after 1 week of my connection going to max 80mbit speed and snr gaining another 2db why on Sunday my connection dropped 2db meaning i had 1.3snr from 3.3 obviously causing mass errors and forcing me to reconnect.

After doing a reboot i find my line is now back at 73mbit where it was the week before ?! can't be cross talk so how can a line do 80mbit where it never had since i got fttc 3 years ago do it for one week totally fine then go back to 73mbit ?

Surely that shows there is a problem somewhere.
