Finding fibre speed on SKY phone line

[link to this post]

Hi
I'm looking at buying a new house and the owner has given me their phone number and postcode.

Unfortunately they are with SKY so I'm unable to find the line details on the BT Fibre Checker, this leaves me with the postcode results which covers quite a large area and doesn't look great.

Is there any way I can get a clear idea of what speed I would get ?

I need a decent connection to work from home.

Thanks

Use the address checker rather than the postcode checker. That will go down to the individual property.

Try using the address checker rather than postcode checker. Select Address Checker, enter the postcode and then select the required property from the dropdown box.

Thanks that gives me:

VDSL Range A (Clean) 58.6 44 13.3 8.6 39.8 Available -- -- --
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 47.6 27.8 11 5.5 22.4 Available -- -- --

I called Plusnet and they suggested 44 - 58.6
Is there anyway to know what it would end up being ?

In short no, as different models of router can behave differently etc etc

Get the person to maybe run a speed test and send the results link to you from https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest for example to see what they have now

Unfortunately they are only running ADSL.
SKY have advised upto 76 which doesn't help..

I would be more inclined to go with the BT premises figure that PlusNet have suggested. The Sky up to 76 is possibly just a standard comment.

Sky do have a checker on their website which requires the postcode and landline number - see what that gives

Sky's checker tell me the line is already with Sky.. and I'd have to log in to check it.

If I start the order process on BTs site I get

Fibre broadband

44Mb-59Mb
Estimated download speed* range
40Mb
Lowest assured download speed*

This is based on postcode, house number and landland number. This matches what plusnet advise.

As long as I hit those figures I'm fine. I just need to be sure as it will affect my ability to work from home.

Thanks
