Netgear d7000 - line speeds

[link to this post]

Hi All

Im looking for some knowledge from a higher power. I have recently changed my router from a TP Link VR200 to a Netgear D7000

Previously my TP Link was syncing at 62000 d 17000 up (rounded figures)

My netgear reports it is syncing at 80000d 20000u

Before I call my ISP and ask them to reassess my line as they do have a speed limit thing on it (ive had to have it reset several times due to line issues when it was first put in two months ago when it was set to 12mb on my 62 line ) I just want to make sure that this is not just the router reporting some arbitrary value from the profile its dected

Full Details on the sync are as follows
VDSL Link

Link Rate 79899 Kbps 20000 Kbps
Line Attenuation
D0( 14.0) D1( 34.1) D2( 51.3) dB
U0( 6.7) U1( 28.6) U2( 42.7) U3(N/A) U4(N/A) dB
Noise Margin
D0( 3.3) D1( 3.3) D2( 3.3) dB
U0( 6.5) U1( 6.6) U2( 6.5) U3(N/A) U4(N/A) dB

VDSL2 Profile Profile 17a

Thanks for any information you can provide

Do you know if your old router had an up to date firmware e.g. supported g.inp?
Your new router is using a 3db setting which helps with speeds. Do you know what the old figures were?
What are speedtests reporting?

When I had a D7000 I always found it sync'd at a higher speed than most other modems - and was rock solid, line performance and the router/wifi side of the house.

A few people commented otherwise but overall it seems to be one of the better Netgear routers.

If you are interested you can use the telnetenable hack to open up telnet and see more advanced stats including your max attainable to see how much headroom you have.

IIRC the VR200 uses a Lantiq chipset and the D7000 uses Broadcom which could account for the difference.

The OP has probably used telnet to get the —pbParams posted. The —stats I would expect to prove whether or not G.INP is active as well as the Max attainable. In this case I would prefer to see -stats rather than —show, so as to give a more detailed analysis of the errors.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. 200GB. Sync 74145/13476Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

My old router had the most up to date firmware available but that was 2 years old, i was stuck to that router originally before i moved as it supported sky's MER authentication

Thanks For the information smile
