Heh, I literally said the same thing about the CAT6 cable before I moved in, and yeah, you'd think that a building they used to own that's just over the road wouldn't be too much of a challenge, but nope.
Hmm, could be a planning issue for the fibre cabinet, could be many things.

In reply to a post by hopkapi:
I have tried Hyperoptic, and got us to hit the demand threshold, but our management company won't even let them do a proper survey at the moment, which is a whole other long infuriating story.
Yeah, I was going to say that you only need I quote from an email "We would be looking at a minimum of 80 flats so as to make our installation feasible." so that shouldn't be the issue, my guesses are your management company is maybe trying to hide something?

The way I see it adding fibre broadband only adds profit to a building, well if done right.

In reply to a post by hopkapi:
I actually filled out Openreach's privately funded interest form a while ago but still no response to even that. Getting slightly tempted to just pop over the road and ask to speak to someone.
Yeah, go over there had them a few notes to gain access to a floor with the windows facing you, drill a hole and screw in a loop bolt and attach a strong wire with the cat6 or even fibre, then ninja plug that into their network and attach the other end to your wall by your window, and not you have fibre broadband tongue

Jokes aside, you could do that, but my guesses would be them saying that they will ask their suppliers (Yes they have to ask themselves) what's happening about the upgrading of a cabinet and say that at least half the cabinet want's fibre, this can take 7 to 10 days for them to get a so called response, that's if you even get one.

on average how long after a new cabinet is installed and finished does it become available for use ..

on my way home last night there was a bt engineer working on our local cabinet ..in fact he was fibre splicing,
i stopped and had a chat and he said that he was doing the final connections and would be finished in about an hour or so ...it has power so ready to go ..

SDWCKHM cabinet 9 is the one ..

its part of the BDUK funded cabinets ...cant wait as we are pretty rural and speeds are about 2mb
so hopefully as im about 400meters from the cabinet, Speeds should be a lot faster ..

tia ..

Once the copper connections are done and the cab commission tested, about 1-2 weeks before its accepting orders

Hi All,

This is my last hope of getting some information...

I am in Biggleswade living on Evans Grove SG18 8JG and I am connected to cabinet 29 which is FTTC enabled. Other numbers on my street can, and have, ordered Infinity. I however cannot.

My question is a simple one; why?

I just want to know a) what is the difference between my property and my neighbor and b) how long will it take to get Infinty.

Please please, if someone is monitoring this that can help I would be eternally in your debt.

Cheers

Because it's not listed on the address checker at http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.Addres...

Well all 19 addresses (1 - 20) on that postcode can get FTTC shown below:
Exchange Name: Biggleswade
Exchange Code: SMBWD

Cabinet: 29
Fibre Phase: Unknown
Result Count: 19

[SG18 8JG]
 Has 19 result(s) connected to Cabinet 29 with FTTC with approximate speeds around the following:
 Range A: 31.5 -> 46.1 (downstream) 5.8 -> 10.0 (upstream)
 Range B: 19.3 -> 39.0 (downstream) 4.0 -> 10.0 (upstream)

Please note that these speeds are using BT's DSL Checker and uses the lowest and highest values for that postcode and cabinet.
 Had at least 1 issue retrieving information from the BT DSL Checker.
I cannot see anything wrong, all 19 addresses (1 - 20) are close enough to be offered fibre.
