Re: Phoneline disrupting BB + edit

it still hasn't improved, does this mean that there is another problem? If there is another problem & it isn't a problem outside of my house then it's my modem that's playing up.

If this is the case as I've been with MAAF for so long, is there a chance you could send me a new router, as I have literally no extra money to spend (just bought a house & building bill is huge!) the one I have atm is the original one you gave me when I started!

Can't answer that one as like you I'm just a customer smile

Anyway I'm sure they will send you a new router which will be FOC if you stay with maaf for 12 months from receiving the router (there will be a charge for it if you leave within that time), you will have to pay for the p&p.

Could be or the PN/maaf automated system hasn't changed their copy of the IP profile they get from BT.

Hi Chris,

Your connection has now been up for 18 hours or so which is excellent, so I've requested an SNR reset and changed your profile on our side of things to 1750. The BT profile was (prior to the SNR reset) still at 135k hence the slowdown but that should improve this morning.

Give it a couple of hours and you should see a change in the line speed smile Glad things are getting better!

This is weird!!

Router stats:

Line Mode G.DMT Line State Show Time
Latency Type Fast Line Up Time 00:08:39:51
Line Coding Trellis On Line Up Count 10

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 3552 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 10.0 dB
Line Attenuation 55.0 dB 29.0 dB
Output Power 18.9 dBm 12.3 dBm

But:

I'm confussed now!!

You'll need to do this > http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ again, followed ASAP by the My Broadband Speed test.

Don't think this is a good sign - Line Up Count 10 - will need to check.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 101 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3552 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/results/74691771.png

The line up is only one more than yesterday.

The fact that the download speed is slower than the upload speed & the sync rate is much much higher than the rate I'm actuallygetting, tends to make me think it might be a router problem, either that or a problem at MAAF/Plusnet.

Sorry to be a bit slow, but isn't this just a case of waiting a couple of days for the IP profile to catch up with the improved line since you had it fixed? Certainly the sync rate looks much more reasonable for a 55dB attenuation.

Will have to wait and see, shouldn't take long for the profile to increase all going well.

It's been more than a couple of hours & nothing has changed except the sync rate has increased, I would have expected the profile to have increased by now.
