Fibre broadband

[link to this post]

My exchange is now taking FTTC orders so I was quite surprised to see MAAF are not even listing that as an option!

So what are my choices then other than to get my MAC code and look for someone else?

I could try PlusNet but their fibre offerings seem too restrictive re. download limits.

It's believed that Plusnet will be announcing their revised product line-up on 30th May. I suggest you hold off making a decision until after then.

Given that MAAF doesn't even advertise ADSL2 speeds yet, I wouldn't hold my breath for FTTC.

My suggestion was about considering Plusnet and the OP's comment about the restricted allowances. I think there's a good chance that may change.

Yes sorry, I was taking the reference to Plusnet's possible product refresh as including MAAF, which I realise now is not what you meant.

Thanks - I'll hold off for a few weeks then before having another look at PlusNet.

In reply to a post by MartinBen:

So you'd be looking for something that offers more than 120GB peak allowance? Or are you referring to the rate limits that are in place on some accounts?

Depends what they mean by "peak" ?

I have another bb line with Zen being upgraded to fibre next week and their limit is 200Gb/month upgradable to a max 1Tb.

Going to be used re. Netflix, watching TV using SkyGo as well as surfing etc.

Peak time is 8am - Midnight. Basically that means that any usage between those times counts toward the 120GB limit, whereas anything downloaded between midnight and 8am doesn't (free usage overnight, basically).

Hope that helps.

Don't wait for Plusnet - the following post was made on their community forums today:
I thought I should pop in here and clarifying the product refresh rumours.

At the moment we are working on a refresh of our product set, but this is in the very early stages and to set your expectations on it, there aren't going to be any changes in the short term. The refresh is likely to be happening later in the year. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but rest assured we are looking at it and taking your feedback on board.
