MAAF Broadband costs

[link to this post]

For umpteen years I have negotiated a discount in return for committing to a 12-month contract, which meant that the MAAF package with a 5GB cap was costing me £9.99 per month (as opposed to £14.99 without the contract).

On attempting to renew this arrangement I am informed that "we no longer do this deal", and the best they can offer is a 15% discount, resulting in a cost of £12.74 - or a 28% increase on what I have been paying.

Has anyone else encountered this rather shabby treatment?

Well I did not even try to get a reduction this year and moved to plusnet unlimited for £1 less than my old deal as I had heard that old discounts were a thing of the past. and kept my madasafish account as just mail for £1.69 a month to kep my aincient globalnet address and domain going.

So only a few pennies more than the 50gb package on maff (with massive discount) for truley unlimited on plusnet.

Transfer took approx 3 days and only had to change my username in router as kept the same password.

GLOBALNET now part of madasafish now part of plusnet With The same isp since 1995 ( now all part of BT) (now on a 21cn exchange wwstal 50db on adsl2 or 53.5db on adsl2+ depending on exchange sync)

Well the Plusnet website quotes me £17.99 (£15.49 with a 12-month contract) for their 10GB package, which doesn't exactly bowl me over ....

This means you are outside the lo-cost footprint of PlusNet, who also run Madasafish.

Some have said that if you can get Sky and TalkTalk LLU on your exchange PlusNet might be willing to go down a little on the price if you call them.

My discounted 5GB maaf package was renewed earlier in the year at a cost of 50p more per month but the new discount only lasts for ten months.

It was suggested to me by the COT that in order to get a "deal" the next time I should take out a phone package + BB with Plusnet if their 10GB package would be of interest to me.

At the moment I am paying a very small amount ... considering the exchange is 20CN and market 1 ... for the 5GB package with a free fixed IP addy so I might well be a loss leader laugh

So can't complain at the moment as I guess all good things eventually come to an end with madasafish Plusnet tongue

Could be worth getting in touch with the Plusnet COT (customer options team) to see what the packages cost for a madasafish customer swimming over to PN?

They will talk deals if you take adsl + phone but no deals on adsl only.

Just done it

According to SamKnows, my exchange (Nettlebed) is designated Market 1, and has ADSL and ADSL Max enabled, but absolutely zilch by way of LLU operator presence

Double check what options the providers offer, as SamKnows can be well out of date as Sky and TalkTalk continue to roll-out, not as fast as in in the past, but TalkTalk is close to 95% coverage these days.

Hmmm,

but TalkTalk is close to 95% coverage these days.

Wouldn't have thought LLU providers would install their gear into exchanges with less than 900 premises served?

They certainly haven't in rural North West Scotland tongue smile
