You need to get someone outside your LAN to test the forwarding.

Not uncommon for routers to do what you see, i.e. port forward rules only apply to packets arriving at the LAN port. One solution is to manually add a DNS lookup to your PC hosts table resolving to the LAN IP address of the service.

Remote admin should NOT be enabled by default in a good setup, have you tweaked the settings at all?

Just to remind you here are the hidden pages that were found by glossywhite earlier. The fourth one should control remote admin.

Hi guys. Okay, I have found four *hidden* config pages, whilst trawling the firmware smile

Here are some screenshots, minus my personal data:

NOTE: Login *first*, then visit these URLs. If you are logged out and click one, it will just ask you to login, but won't re-direct you to these URLs.

Have fun!
I have also found that port 8085 is permanently OPEN (something to do with the TR69 function)

Apologies if I did not make myself clear.

I found both port 80 and port 8085 open.

Port 80 for remote admin and port 8085 for TR069

Sorry, you're right.

Enabling Remote Admin does open port 80. I am surprised that port 80 was used for Remote Admin. Would have thought it would be a more obscure port. But it is for your own Remote Admin so you would know the pwd to enter on the login screen.

Nevertheless, even with port 80 closed you can still browse to your own IP and get the router's admin page, which is OP's point.

I was very suprised that we are forced to use port 80, on my old netgear the default was 8080, but it could be changed to something more obscure.

OP did not specify whether they were at home or somewhere else on the www, so I assumed they ment on the www.
