Orange v Sky ?

[link to this post]

I'm currently with Sky and considering moving to Orange because the overall phone/broadband package seems better than Sky.

Here's my current Sky Stats which is set to a gaming profile with Sky

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16381 kbps 1105 kbps
Line Attenuation 13.0 dB 8.6 dB
Noise Margin 6.2 dB 8.9 dB

I'm on the Aberdare exchange which is also Orange enabled........What's Orange broadband like compare to Sky?

I though that Orange were / had ditched their LLU kit and had moved to reselling BTW products now?

I wouldnt have thought it was worth the effort of moving from SKY - if you have the fully unbundled product I didnt think the MAC process applied.

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload ON THE LINE THAT SKY COULD ONLY PROVIDE 15,255 DOWN AND 800 UP ON!!!,
Moved house, now BE Unlimited 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
FTTC Cab installation commenced 12th April - expect full 80 / 20 - bye bye BE, hello BT Infinity, install date Friday 10th August!

What do you mean "Orange enabled"? Orange ceased doing LLU over a year ago and are now on BTw, available from all exchanges.

Even now you should be getting 22-23 Meg.

If you have a good line you would get even more on Orange WBC as the DLM will get the NM down to 3 dB on Fast Path.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC

Orange are one only company that would allow me to move from the Sky network for free and allow me to keep my existing phone number.

Are Orange any good or should I avoid them?

I do on-line gaming, stream films and a little p2p.

Is that for a migration from full LLU to 21CN WBC?

Aberdare is Market 3 exchange with 21CN WBC you are well in with downstream Line Attenuation 13.0 dB, should get 19 Mbps speed on Orange I reckon. Note Orange is unlimited but do not like p2p, they slow it down to dial-up speed daytime and evenings.

My Broadband Speed Test
Orange WBC 20 Mbps. Sync 11864 kbps Downstream, 1189 kbps Upstream.
