Rubbish speed since getting Brightbox?

[link to this post]

Orange sent me out one of them Bright Boxes and since then my speed has been [censored] to say the least.

I did 2 speedtests tonight.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2342793849.png

And BT Speedtester

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.67 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7.15 Mbps

Any ideas? This is a daily thing.

Hi, you need to produce your Bright Box router stats when wanting help with speed problems. It’s easy to display with the Bright Box router…

Go > Advanced Set-Up > Accept > System > ADSL Status. Then copy and paste the page and post.

The router stats are worth checking as the other poster mentioned, in case the modem is running at a too low noise margin.

http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks is worth a visit, as a mismatch on MTU between PC, router and ISP can cause speed problems sometimes

A few settings to work on within the router…

Set the router MTU at the Broadband Settings page to… 1500

MTU (576-1500) 1500

Save Settings.

Go > Advanced Set-UP > Accept > Broadband Settings > ADSL Mode.

ADSL Mode: set to “Automatic” also test speeds with setting ADSL 2+
Save the Setting each time.
Re-boot the router after each setting and check speeds.

My Broadband Speed Test
EE broadband WBC 20 Mbps. Sync 11864 kbps Downstream, 1189 kbps Upstream.

In reply to a post by E7er:
also test speeds with setting ADSL 2+
That won't work! OP is on 20CN with typical ADSL Max speeds of 8128/448.

EDIT: MTU = 1500 may not be appropriate for ADSL Max. Anyone remember?

Issue is probably congestion at 20CN exchange.

What were your speeds before Brightbox? Do you regain them by putting old router back?
