Thanks to an anonymous tip-off (thanks v much btw), I've been giving the demo a go on Steam and it's nice to play but I reckon - despite the cool stunts - this game, unless there's a good storyline somewhere - would really get boring very quickly.
So, all I've had is a few 30 minutes sessions, which I wished had been longer (no glitch unfortunately for PC I'm aware of) and I found it pretty repetitive actually. The AI is as wooden as it comes and destroying the same old targets time after time is really, um, repetitive and boring.
Its long term appeal and re-playability will likely prove of interest to adolescent boys only with no imagination and a penchant for mindless destruction but I do agree, the game does definitely have potential. Nice large open area? Check. Sunny climate? Yup. Lots of different types of vehicles to drive/ride/fly? Oh yes. Plenty of novel ways and big guns to kill an enemy? Of course!
Just Cause 2 looks like it's got a good recipe for short term fun but seeing how samey it was in every way - civilians, traffic, places etc, I think it's the type of game that will really need something special story-wise to get my attention if I'd ever play it through to the end. I hope I'm proved wrong and there's more substance to this title. At £25 for PC, it's at the top end of what I'd call a must buy game and too pricey to buy on whim.
