Portal 2.....Cross platfrom Gaming[Play v Pc v Mac]

[link to this post]

So if you are a console owner and it the fortunate position to own Both then it looks like the Playstation 3 version is the one to get because of the tie in with Steam and the fact that you can play against PC gamers.

Strange when you think that Gabe Newell about 18 months ago was basically saying the Playstation 3 was a a piece of Junk and it had terrible architecture and the 360 was a much superior console in terms of easier developing.

Now about turn he thinks the Playstation 3 is so so Cool................tongue

Im going to get this game because i loved the previous Portal,How long i actually play it depends on what exactly Multiplayer is and my attention span of a Gnat laugh

Best Version

I'm fairly sure hes saying that now as valve have managed to get more functions of steam on the PS3 than microsoft would allow (that is pretty much what hes been saying). From a development point of view the 360 still is easier to develop for however gabe/valve has been expressing concern over how much control happens on xbl, i.e minimum pricing for dlc.

Saying that no offence to PS3 people but as a PC player I wouldn't want to play with a PS3 player, that controller sucks, some of the levels in portal 1 got real tricky with portal placement, portal 2 looks a lot faster paced...

Portal 1 was good... until it transpired that you had' to do some real funky stuff to complete a level.

Personally, it's not a game that I'd even consider completing.

There would be no chance that I'd stand a chance with it, but it might be worth a go anyway. Eventually.

It looked pretty good in the advert that was shown on TV a couple of times. Rather tasty looking in fact.

Won't be getting completed here if I got it. Stopped playing Portal 1 after seeing the vids on the web. I couldn't do it lol. I'd have to start P1 all over again, have had a re-install of Steam a good while back.

May see how it goes and try the P2 demo first, if there is one. I'm not as skilled as you or T2D... or any of the newbs either, but never mind. Still enjoy the games anyway. SP mainly. laugh

I'm not skilled mate but i do like a good puzzle game such as Portal and Portal 2,they are not the kind of game that i play for ages but it makes a change from my constant FPS addiction.

I am however very curious as to how the online mode works in Portal 2 and the fact that the playstation 3 version lets us play against PC/MAC players..........That part intrigues me and i am looking forward to the game a week next Friday.

Not going to be using my normal gaming site Shopto.net this time as i have accumulated quite a few games over the past year or so and trade seems to be the better option with Portal 2 ,L A Noir and Brink.

Hope you get it Guesty as it will be a blast playing with someone of here wink

Hopefully this is the first of many that are cross platform MP enabled. The constant fracturing caused by multiple systems is not a good thing imo.

Not sure I'll be getting it though, just couldn't get into 1.
