F1 2011

[link to this post]

It does look great but I won't be getting it, anyone here going for it??

With just a week until the release of F1 2011™, gamers around the world are chomping at the bit to experience the latest multi-format, high-definition F1 videogame, successor to last year’s multimillion-selling, BAFTA-winning edition.

To whet appetites all the more, developers Codemasters have released a preview video exclusively to Formula1.com, showing the world’s fastest sport in glorious slow-motion.

Capturing how the game’s development team have authentically reproduced the unique physics and visual detail from the most advanced racing cars on the planet, the video features key racing moments, including dynamically changing weather, the new DRS (Drag Reduction System) in action and the safety car.

F1 2011™ will feature all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship, including the brand-new Buddh International Circuit in India and the iconic Nurburgring, which has returned to the calendar this season.

Developed using Codemasters’ EGO™ game technology platform, an evolution of the award-winning EGO™ Engine, the game will deliver an unrivalled experience that puts players into the heart of Formula One racing, powered by cutting-edge graphics, advanced physics systems and integrated network play.

Immersing players in the glamour and exhilaration of the sport, from the paddock to the track, F1 2011™ aims to challenge players to ‘be the driver, live the life, go compete’, with wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements, on and off track, and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components.

Players can race against 16 players online plus eight AI cars to simulate a full 24-car grid, team up with a friend to play through a full season in a new co-op championship mode or enjoy multiplayer racing from the sofa in split-screen mode.

Codemasters, under their exclusive worldwide agreement with Formula One World Championship Limited, have used their unprecedented access to connect the game’s development team directly with F1 teams and official tyre supplier Pirelli.

Extensive consultancy has taken place with a range of F1 professionals, including race engineers, mechanics and drivers. This has then been combined with real-world data, including CAD and on-board telemetry, to deliver a race experience with authentic handling, accurate circuits and precisely-modelled racing cars.

F1 2011™ launches on Friday, September 23 for the Xbox 360, Microsoft’s video game and entertainment system, the PlayStation 3 and PC. The PC edition is also available as a digital download from multiple online services.

Bespoke handheld editions of F1 2011™ are also in production for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, each designed to take advantage of the new platforms’ unique capabilities. Specific release dates for the handheld editions are yet to be announced.

The game is available to pre-order now at the F1 Store at Formula1.com. You can keep up to date with all the latest developments on F1 2011 on Facebook or follow the team on Twitter.

Even if it fixes everything that's wrong with it? Not that I'm betting on it doing that of course.

So I theoretically have to buy two games to get the game I originally wanted... fab, provided they have made a good game this time round. wink

Incase anyone is wondering what was my problem with F1 2010, everything! It was a bad dirt 2 mod is what I felt, with rubbish AI and stupid penalty systems (how about a puncture the second you leave the pits?).

True I guess but the word was out soon after release that it was a bit of a stinker, so you only have yourself to blame really. Now the team is more experienced you'd hope they'd at least hit half decent. Not that I'd advocate buying any "half-decent" games, there's too many good or great ones out there. laugh

I've been trying to avoid this game like the plague. My mate kept on and on about playing online as team through a whole season. Really couldn't be arsed. Then last night he turned up with a copy and said "Oi, present for you."

I think my face said "Oh [censored]."

The upshot? I'm loving it so far. Apart from the cars themselves, the visuals aren't all that on the PS3. But what I really liked was the realism. Turning in far too early because you haven't learnt how the car handles, instead of the stock understeer that most racing sims throw at you. And losing the front wing causing gentle understeer aon high speed bends, making you feel like you are right on the edge of losing grip altogether.

After being forced to race a full season over the weekend I may well get bored, but first impressions of the handling are good.
