Fps dropping to 2fps

[link to this post]

Hi guys, i was just wandering if anyone can help me.

I have just started playing Wow again after about a 6 month break. It use to run perfectly fine before but now when i play after about 5 mins or so the frame rate drops from 20-30fps to max 2fps. I have no idea why it is doing this or how to resolve the issue. I have tried updating drivers, turning anti aliasing off, turned all the graphics down to a min etc but nothing seems to make a difference.

My computer specs are
Cpu amd athlon II x4 630 quad core processor
4gb ddr2 ram
1tb hdd
Nvidia geforce 9200 256mb dedicated graphics card

Any other information you need please ask and i will try and get it

Thanks

Azzercam

Checked your addons? Tried a repair on WoW?

What about your temps of the cpu and gpu?

Back when I used to play WoW, many eons ago, the reason I stopped playing was when they switched from hardware-sound support to a software-only sound-engine - my frame-rate dropped from about 50fps in medium settings (it was an old PC) to 1fps in Shattrath (sp?) with all graphical detail turned off.

I could only play at decent frame-rates if I completely disabled sound. Worth trying this on your PC, too, just to see if it makes any difference. It'll rule out one possibility, or confirm that as the cause, depending on your own results from doing so.
