Strange how ping always seems way higher when i test it using this site when its normally around 9ms everywhere else i test it.

Same site but Speedtest.

And again slight difference.

Yes, I get a similar pattern of variation when testing via browser. Running a ping test to bbc.co.uk via command line gives me consistent results

well I had to test with milton keynes, the site isnt showing maidenhead as an option for me.

But to answer your point.

First you are doing a test in your browser using flash and java (java used for packetloss test), this has some overheads, these overheads will vary based on pc spec, browser, anti virus or anything else that can add latency to the software processing.

Second speedtest.net I would ignore the ping result, I have read posts from people stating the ping result is articially adjusted based on some other factors, and for sure I have seen some weird ping results on speedtest.net tests.

Finally ping times will change depending on your destination.
