digital games risk of losing game

[link to this post]

Read some news on konami been dicks and pulling a game from PSN, in the past if a game got pulled, then those who had purchased it could still download it, it was just prevented from been purchased. However apparently this time people who have paid for the game cannot download it either.

Shocking.

Also publishers are whining about people playing abandonware.

Note this comment at the end which is why I think the new consoles deliberately didnt add BC

The real reasoning is a great deal simpler: If youíre happy playing an old game, you might be less likely to buy a new one ó and in an industry thatís fallen prey to kicking out sequels on a yearly basis, regardless of the impact on game quality, the phantom of lost sales is too frightening to ignore.

Plus something else I have warned about, the online nature of more and more games.

The game in question was the Silent Hill demo PT which was a horrific scary demo i tell you.

Now its pulled but is in my downloads list and when you click to re download it you get errors which say can not download.

Why its listed is beyond me but nobody had paid for it in the first place as it was just a demo.

But Konami are just shooting themselves in the foot to be honest and its penny pinching and been so dam stupid.

And even though the demo was brilliant apparently the game in question has been all but canned.

As Timey has mentioned, it was a demo that was pulled and not a paid for game so it's really a load of nonsense.

If a developer wants their demo pulled and everyone to no longer be able to download it then that's their business!!!

Also the locked digital library was an error/glitch which may not have even been anything to do with Konami. It never affected me. (I had downloaded the demo btw). Gutted that it's been canned though!
