BT Digital Vault down

[link to this post]

Does anyone know what is wrong with BT Digital Vault? It has now been down for over 24 hours, supposedly for maintenance, but BT do not know when it will be back.

With automatic back-up implemented, it is causing a back-log of uploads.

Isn't that their data backup service?

Pretty poor if something that you are relying upon for that function fails for so long.

Lack of backing-up may be a nuisance. But what about anyone who needed to do a restore since whatever time on Monday? Or is retrieval working?

Totally offline, i.e. cannot retrieve or upload

It would have been kind for BT to have emailed its 300000 Digital Vault customers to let them know that it has failed rather than stating it is 'esential maintenance work'. It seems to have crashed suddenly about 13.45 on Monday. Initial call to BT support (8p per min, on hold for 12 mins) said it would be back in a short time, so obviously not routine maintenance. Subsequent call stated down for a further couple of hours. Now gives Thursday AM. So 70 hours down.

Is our data safe? What about data uploaded during time previous to crash? BT have our email addresses (required to use DV) so a brief message of re-assurance would be gratefully recieved.
