What happens moving house?

[link to this post]
If I move house not taking number or ISP to new premises, what happens at old house. Does the ISP after me cancelling the account get BT to tremove any adsl from the line seeing as the number stays with the house.? Would BT remove the adsl only if the number is moved?

The phone line will retain dial tone but not be able to dial, and the ADSL is likely to maintain a sync but have no service allocated. If either an exchange or a DSLAM port is required elsewhere then the relevant service will be taken off the line. After a period the services will cease either way.

Have you cancelled the broadband with your ISP and the phone line with BT at the old house? Which ISP is it anyway?

thanks y'all. I'm not moving as it turns out. More case of someone wanting to use Sky and not wanting any hassle with leftovers so to speak. Do I infer that some ISPs are forgetful or spiteful if a conratc is terminated early!
