Anybody know what "PPP link down" means ?
Last week my router was dropping adsl for about 5 mins 3 or 4 times a day over 3 days and reporting PPP link down, seems OK now just wondering what was going on .

Means you can't connect with your ISP's authentication server; maybe cuz it itself is down.

No, in your ISP's network beyond the exchange.

Are you on LLU or IPStream? May depend on which. Who is ISP?

Not necessarily, in fact probably not.

It means you connected to the exchange fine, as your modem/router still had sync/connection to there, but for some reason you could not be logged into your ISP from the exchange. So the problem is between the exchange and your ISP, usually at the ISP end.

Unless you also lost connection to the exchange, in which case the PPP session will usually drop anyway.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

I've contacted BT about this and they say there's a fault at the exchange and have raised a fault log.

Thanks all.
